Mr. Ambassador visited Łódź for the first time. The opportunity to visit Łódź, was the match inaugurating the U-20 World Cup, played between Poland and Colombia at the Widzew stadium. Poland is proud to host the 22 FIFA U-20 World Cup tournament. The event will began on May 23 and will end on June 15, 2019. For the first time the FIFA tournament is taking place in our country.

A the beginning of the visit, the Ambassador offered help in strengthening contacts between Poland and Columbia. Among Polish cities, the most active cooperation are currently conducting Poznań, Gdańsk and Toruń. His Excellency declared to mediate in reviving Łódź contacts with Colombian cities. His Excellency stressed that Colombia is currently in a phase of very dynamic investments and transformations, that are possible thanks to the end of the internal armed conflict. A very important element of these changes is to reduce civilization backwardness in rural areas of the country. One of the priorities is to provide young people with appropriate education and upbringing. An excellent education tool is sport.

Mayor Hanna Zdanowska also emphasized that the city of Łódź in recent years has invested many millions of zlotys in the development of sports infrastructure.

Were arise new football stadiums and modern sports halls as well as swimming pools. Thanks to this it is possible to attract to Łódź, a world-class events, such as the current U-20 World Championships or the Women’s European Volleyball Championships.

The talks also discussed the possibilities of strengthening economic cooperation as well as connections and increasing mutual knowledge of markets. Colombia may be a bridgehead for Polish enterprises to conquer the South American market.
