Frida Kahlo’s cuisine - free cooking workshop

In order to bring closer Mexican dishes, on the occasion of the jubilee of 20 years of cooperation between Łódź and Puebla, the City of Łódź and the Embassy of the United Mexican States invite on 21 October 2017, for a free cooking workshop at the BOOK & COOK Culinary Studio with the participation of the Mexican Embassy Chef, Pamela Montellano, an expert in the preparation of Mexican cuisine.

Frida Kahlo was a lover of Mexican folk culture and traditional Mexican cuisine. Mexican products and traditional Mexican cuisine were the inspiration for Frida and Diego. Banquets and social gatherings organized by Frida and Diego in the Blue House (Casa Azúl) in Cayoacán (Mexico City) were known both for the presence of noble personalities and the variety of traditional Mexican dishes served. In 2010, Mexican cuisine was included in the UNESCO World Cultural Heritage list as a model of cultural wealth. Account has been taken of the fact that ingredients such as tomatoes, avocados and chocolate are of Mexican origin.  

Wanting to bring closer Mexican dishes we invite you to free cooking workshop, during which you will be able to learn the secrets of Mexican cuisine, in this way, preparing dishes inspired by Frida Kahlo and Diego Rivera to serve dishes at parties they issue. Shown will include the secrets of preparing ceviche, or cold-cooked fish. It's for adults. Children, in turn, will learn how to make real Mexican guacamole. This is not the only attraction for children. The sugar skulls typical for Mexico will be prepared for painting.  

Workshop groups:
- group of children - hours 13.00 - 15.00 (number of participants: 14 people) - suggested age of participants 6-14 years
- group of adults - 16.30-19.00 (number of participants: 12 people) 

How to participate in the workshop? On the weekend of 14-15 October 2017, a contest will be held on the Facebook profile of Łódź. We invite you to participate! The prize will of course be free participation in the workshop. 

The venue of the workshops: BOOK & COOK Culinary studio (OFF Piotrkowska, building 6, floor I, first place on the left from the entrance through the gate at Roosevelta St., Piotrkowska St. 138/140).  

BOOK & COOK Culinary Studio is the first culinary studio in Łódź located in the post-industrial space of OFF Piotrkowska Center – an unique place that in 2014 won the prestigious plebiscite of “ 7 New Wonders of Poland “ organized by “National Geographic Traveler “.
