A Lodz Multicultural Center is being established

In Opus Center a Lodz Multicultural Center is being established. It’s a place for foreigners, where soon every resident of Lodz from Ukraine, Belarus or any other country will be able to get help. Lodz has just signed a contract with operator – “Ocalenie” foundation.

-For our city it’s very important to support those who chose Lodz as their new home. Here they will be able to learn Polish language, they will receive legal aid or advices on functioning in our city – inform Adam Pustelnik, first vice president of the city of Lodz.

In Lodz Multicultural Center you will be able to receive psychological support or support in a situation of experiencing violence or discrimination. The plan also includes activities for foreigners, such as tourist trips around Lodz.

-It is important that foreigners will have the opportunity to benefit from support of an individual assistant that speaks in one of the four languages: English, Ukrainian, Belarusian and Russian. – adds Katarzyna Dyzio, director of Urban Activity Office.

-We need now few weeks to recruit and train employees. Over the next year we will research and inspect, what problems foreigners have. Based on our experience in Warsaw or Lomza, we know that these are often language problems, forms that are linguistically maladjusted, legal consultations are also important, which also will be available here in Lodz – Anna Chmielewska from “Ocalenie” foundation.

Lodz Multicultural Center emerge on Narutowicza 8/10 street. The annual activity of the Center have assigned 350 000 PLN.
