End of the German Presidency in the Council of the European Union

On December 16, 2020 online, in cooperation with the City of Łódź Office, the ceremonial ending of the German Presidency in the Council of the European Union took place, which was broadcast on the social media profile Facebook of Łódź and the German Embassy.

The end of the German Presidency of the Council of the European Union was organized in Łódź in cooperation with the Embassy of the Federal Republic of Germany in Poland. The event took place online on the zoom platform on December 16, 2020 from 14.00 - 16.00 and was broadcast on the social media profile Facebook of the City of Lodz and the Embassy of Germany. 

The ceremony was opened by the President, Hanna Zdanowska, and His Excellency Arndt Freytag von Loringhoven, German Ambassador to Poland. The ceremonial ending was a summary of the six-month period of the presidency, and additionally a panel dedicated to sustainable development "Green Cities - Green Europe" took place. The event was a discussion panel to which distinguished guests and great specialists were invited: prof. dr. hab. Maciej Zalewski - European Regional Center for Ecohydrology under the auspices of UNESCO, Maciej Riemer - Director of the Department of Ecology and Climate, City of Łódź, Sybille Eßer - BUGA Director of Media, dr. Ewa Łabno-Falęcka - Director of Corporate Communications and Foreign Affairs, PR of Mercedes-Benz Central Europe and prof. Krzysztof Jóźwik - Rector of the Lodz University of Technology. The event was moderated by the journalist Marcin Antosiewicz. The idea of the presidency was "Let's strengthen Europe together" and sustainable development, Green Deal, Ecopact and Green Expo are topics important to Łódź. The discussion was very interesting and all Łódź residents observing the profile of our city could listen to it. The accompanying event was a concert of the Music Academy in Łódź, works by Ludwig van Beethoven on the occasion of the composer's 250th birthday. Finally, thanks to the courtesy of TME from Łódź, a light show about the German Presidency and the EU flag were shown.
