Comprehensive modernisation

The Group Waste-Water Treatment Facility in Łódź in the largest waste-water treatment facility of this type in Poland. The waste water that gets there comes from not only Łódź but also from neighbouring cities and municipalities. Since Poland joined the European Union, it has been constantly modernised and extended. For the current investment, by 2022, PN 132 million were allocated, including PLN 68 million from the EU funds. The project includes the full modernisation of the waste-water treatment infrastructure, together with the construction of water storage tanks and renovation of the installation: the one for dewatering of sewage sludge and the one responsible for removing nitrogen and retrieving phosphorus. The capacity of two trunk sewer lines will also be increased.

The significance for Łódź and the region

The modernisation project of the Group Waste-Water Treatment Facility is of great significance not only for the residents of Łódź, but also for the entire region. Implementation of pro-ecological solutions will make the waste-water treatment facility able to handle and secure most of the contamination included in the rainwater. Thanks to the investment, the quality of surface water, e.g. the Ner River, by which GOŚ is located, will improve.
