Visit of the university authorities of Tampere

On February 6-7, 2020 Łódź was visited by a delegation of representatives of the Finnish University from Tampere – a partner city of Łódź with the longest tradition.

The purpose of the visit was to establish and strengthen partnership between the University of Tampere and Łódź universities. The University of Tampere was represented by: Prof. Martti Kauranen – Dean of the Faculty of Engineering and Natural Sciences, Prof. Jyrki Vuorinen- Dean of the Faculty of Computer Science and Communication, Prof. Juho Saari – Dean of the Faculty of Social Sciences, Dr. Matti Sommarberg – Dean of the Faculty of Management and Business, Honorary Consul of the Republic of Poland in Tampere.  The visit was continuation of talks initiated in Finland by representatives of Łódź universities and local governments during the Tampere Start-up in 2019.

As part of the visit program, guests visited the Academy of Fine Arts and talked with Rector Jolanta Rudzka-Habisiak. Then they met with representatives of almost all universities: the University of Łódź, the National Film, Television and Theater School, the Łódź University of Technology and the ICT Cluster. In the afternoon they visited the Film School, where they talked with Marcin Malatyński, Rector’s Plenipotentiary for International Cooperation. On the next day of the visit, a meeting was planned at the University of Łódź with the Faculty of Management and the Faculty of Economics and Sociology. Representatives of Finnish Universities talked among others with Tomasz Czapla – the Dean of the Faculty of Management and Mariusz Sokołowicz – Deputy Dean for Promotion and Cooperation with Foreign Countries.

The University of Tampere plans to establish cooperation under partnership agreements financed from European programs to implement research projects, exchange of teaching staff, and exchange of experience.
