Visit of the Ambassador of Ireland in Łódź

On Thursday, September 24, Her Excellency Emer O'Connell, Ambassador of Ireland in Poland, visited Łódź.

It was the first official visit of Her Excellency Emer O'Connell to our city. The Ambassador had the opportunity to get accustomed with the history of the city and with the key projects in Łodź, both those already under construction and those planned for the coming months.

The President presented the vision of the new city strategy. The main goal of the strategy is to open the city hall to residents and invite them to co-create the city.

The conversation also concerned the need for cooperation and exchange of good practices between local governments of cities and the participation of Łódź in a new association called Local Governments for Poland, which brings together large cities, small towns and villages.

Other topics discussed included the city's activities in promoting tolerance and combating all discrimination. This topic was also discussed during the meeting with the Plenipotentiary of the Mayor of the City of Łódź for Equal Treatment, Ms Agnieszka Łuczak. They talked about creating the Multiannual Anti-Discrimination Action Program in Łódź, on which the work began at the end of 2018.

Then, the Ambassador paid a visit to the headquarters of OPG Property Professional, an Irish company advising and managing assets and development projects on the real estate market, the owner of OFF Piotrkowska.

At the meeting at the Film School, the Ambassador met with the newly elected Rector of the Film School, Her Magnificence, dr hab. Milenia Fiedler.

The last highlight of the visit was participation in the screening of Irish short films as part of the LGBT Film Festival at the BODO Cinema.

During the talks, the idea arose to organize, together with the Embassy, ​​next year's Saint Patrick's Day celebrations and promote Ireland in Łódź.
