Historic monument
The White Factory is one of the symbols of Łódź. Because it is one of the Poland’s oldest buildings of industrial architecture, in 2015, it was recognised as a historic monument. The works on the eastern side of the Factory facade started last year, currently, the constructions are visible from the west, north and south. Although passers-by can see the scaffolding from the side of Piotrkowska Street, it does not make it difficult for them to move within the area of the building.
Stages of works on the facade
Modernisation of the facade of over 1,200 m2 is a process which requires dividing the work on a few stages. First, the he Factory facade will be cleaned and the dust will be removed. Then, any damage and cracks will be fixed. After the facade is primed, it will be painted in old white. This renovation phase will last around 3 months.
After the completion of the works, the Factory, being a part of the Central Museum of Textile, will become an exhibition space presenting the development of textile technology. There will be an interactive experimentarium where one can learn about the ways of wool and cotton processing, raw materials used in the textile industry. Historical temporary exhibitions will appear on one of the floors of the White Factory.
