The unemployment rate in Łódź was successfully reduced from about 30% in the 1990s to 4,7% in March 2020. In July 2020, the unemployment rate in Łódź amounted to 5,7%. However, it still remains relatively high, compared to other Polish cities and currently there are about 20,000 unemployed people registered at the Poviat Labour Office.

The Poviat Labour Office in Łódź offers to investors willing to employ unemployed people assigned by the district labour office a wide range of tools supporting the employment process and giving to the employers a wide access to skilled workers seeking a job.
Selected forms of support:
- Activation of unemployed people (Subsidized forms of support):
- internships
- intervention works
- workplace equipment costs reimbursement
- remuneration subsidy (for employing a person aged over 50)
- Support in recruitment process and selection of potential candidates
- Organisation of job exchanges (also possible in cooperation with other labour offices from the agglomeration of Łódź)
- Group and individual trainings
- Simplified form of the legalisation of the employment of the foreigners in Poland
