Manufacturing sector in Łódź

The Łódź region is renowned for a number of industrial specialisations, with widely understood home appliances manufacturing (including both large household appliances manufacturing and components and industry-dedicated solutions design) as one of the fastest-developing one. A considerable percentage of industrial companies covers investors from the automotive, packaging, printing, pharmacy and innovative textile industries.

Home appliances

Łódź region plays a significant role in the sector compared to the rest of Europe. The plants located in the region of Łódź produce about 37 percent of large household appliances manufactured in Poland, and employ more than 9 thousand people. The investment of three largest players in the sector: BSH, Miele and Whirlpool confirmed the region’s strategic location for the white goods production.

Automotive

Over 50 companies from the broadly understood automotive sector operate in the Lodz Region, producing mainly producing parts or components for the production of vehicles, including 20 operating in the Łódź Special Economic Zone. The existing Łódź-based automotive industry is an excellent basis for the further development of this sector, however still leaving room for new investors.

Packaging

The packaging industry, closely connected to the development of the distribution sector, is quickly evelving due to the unique logistic potential of the city.

Printing

As a recognised academic centre with the Institute of Papermaking and Printing at the Technial University of Łódź educating specialist engineers in the field of papermaking, printing and converting, and the Academy of Fine Arts educating creative graphic designers, Łódź is a perfect location for modern printing companies.

Pharmacy

Favourable investment conditions in the Łódź were recognised by a number of local and international pharmaceutical and cosmetics companies operating production sites, R&D centres and modern distribution centres.

The further growth of the industry is enhanced by the presence of a developped life science ecosystem including a large number entities active in the sector, a strong scientific and research background and a growing number of life science start-up's.

Textiles

Łódź, a city tailored for the modern textile and fashion industry, is today the Polish hub of the sector, with solid development prospects. The textile and clothing manufacturing represents approx. 10% of the value of the marketed production of the entire manufacturing sector in the Łódzkie region, while the companies from this industry employ approx. 24% of workers employed in the manufacturing sector in the Łódzkie region. Apart from the industrial heritage and the local economy historically anchored to the textile industry, the city has also a rich educational and academic background, tailored to the needs of modern textile and fashion sector.
