About the city of Łódź
Łódź (pronounced “woodge”) is Poland’s third biggest city, located just 135 km south-west of Warsaw. Once a textile industry hub, it is now a vibrant, modern city with it’s 19th century castle-like weaving mills and eclectic palaces of rich industrialists turned into lofts, hotels, cafes, restaurants, boutiques, museums, schools and offices. The famous Piotrkowska street, which runs for over 5 kilometres, is one of the longest commercial street is the world. The massive renovated cotton factory complex, "Manufaktura", is one of the best examples of Łódź's industrial architecture. With numerous restaurants and cafes, hotels, shopping mall, cinema and an art museum it is a recognizable city landmark. "Fuzja" and "Monopolis" are the newest additions to the must-see list of places that were put new life into.
